Battle Styles (SWSH05) Booster Box | 36 Packs | Sword and Shield

Pokemon TCG: Sword and Shield — Battle Styles (set code: SWSH05) was released on March 19, 2021 as the fifth main expansion of the Sword and Shield series. Battle Styles is an out-of-print set from 2021 that has not been reprinted. Factory sealed booster boxes are no longer available through standard retail channels and represent one of the few remaining ways to open Battle Styles packs in sealed format. The full set contains 163 cards in the base set plus 20 secret rares for 183 total cards.

Battle Styles is historically significant as the set that introduced the Single Strike and Rapid Strike battle styles to the Pokemon TCG — a dual mechanic system that defined competitive play for the entire second half of the Sword and Shield era. Single Strike cards embody raw power, featuring attacks designed to deliver devastating single blows with high damage output. Rapid Strike cards use technical, multi-hit strategies with sneaky attacks and chain effects. The two styles interact with each other through dedicated Supporter cards, Stadium cards, and Items that reward building a focused archetype around one style — a design philosophy that gave Battle Styles one of the most distinct competitive identities of any Sword and Shield set.

The flagship Pokemon of the set are Single Strike Urshifu VMAX and Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAX — the two forms of the Legendary Pokemon Urshifu from the Crown Tundra DLC of Pokemon Sword and Shield, each representing one battle style as its signature mechanic. Other key Pokemon V include Tyranitar V, Mimikyu V, Empoleon V, Crobat V, Galarian Rapidash V, Victini V, and Gardevoir V. The top chase cards are the Alternate Full Art versions of Tyranitar V (155/163) — consistently one of the most valuable non-Charizard alternate art cards from the Sword and Shield era — and Single Strike Urshifu VMAX (168/163) and Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAX (170/163) in their Alternate Full Art treatments. The Crobat V Dark Asset Full Art is also a notable collector card from this set.

As an out-of-print 2021 release, factory sealed Battle Styles booster boxes represent one of the few remaining opportunities to open this set in sealed format. Stock is limited and no restock is expected.
