Pokemon TCG: Scarlet and Violet — Black Bolt (set code: SV11B) was released in Japan on June 6, 2025 as one half of a dual set celebration alongside White Flare (SV11W), released simultaneously. The English counterpart released internationally on July 18, 2025. Black Bolt is the Pokemon TCG's dedicated tribute to Generation V — the Unova region — following the same format as the acclaimed Pokemon Card 151 set for the Kanto region. Together, Black Bolt and White Flare feature all 156 Unova Pokemon across both sets, with every single Pokemon available in at least an Art Rare or higher rarity treatment. Black Bolt specifically covers the Pokemon Black side of Unova, headlined by Zekrom and featuring N as the central Trainer character. The full Black Bolt set contains 174 cards — 86 main set cards plus 88 secret rares.
The most significant collector development in Black Bolt is the debut of the BWR (Black and White Rare) rarity — a brand new rarity tier featuring cards rendered in a striking monochromatic black-and-white foil finish directly referencing the visual identity of the original Pokemon Black and White games. Zekrom ex BWR is the crown jewel of the set and the most valuable card, with secondary market values projected well above most standard SAR cards at launch. Other top chase cards include Zekrom ex SAR, N's Plot SAR, and Kyurem ex SAR. The set also reintroduces the horizontal holo paper treatment used on cards during the original Black and White era, adding a further layer of nostalgia for long-time collectors. In addition to standard 20-pack booster boxes, a Deluxe Booster Box format was released containing 4 packs of 35 cards each, with every Deluxe pack guaranteeing one Illustration Rare.
Box contents (standard booster box): 20 booster packs per box. 7 cards per pack. 140 total cards per box. Language: Japanese. All card text is in Japanese. Cards are produced in Japan to Japanese print quality standards. Condition: Factory sealed.
Ideal for Generation V and Unova collectors, N fans, collectors chasing the Zekrom ex BWR and the debut of the Black and White Rare rarity, and anyone who wants the Japanese original of one of the most ambitious Scarlet and Violet era sets. Cards are randomised and specific pulls are not guaranteed. Recommended for ages 6 and up.
