The Pokemon TCG: Mega Evolution — Phantasmal Flames Elite Trainer Box (ETB) was released on November 14, 2025 as part of the second main expansion in the Mega Evolution Series. Set code: PFL / ME02. The set contains 130 cards in total, comprising 94 main set cards and 36 secret rares, making it the most compact English expansion released in nearly a decade — which contributes to its scarcity and collector demand.

Phantasmal Flames is the English combination of three Japanese sources: the Inferno X booster set featuring Mega Charizard X ex, and the Mega Gengar ex and Mega Diancie ex starter decks. The set focuses on Fire and Darkness-type Mega Evolution Pokemon ex and introduces six Mega Evolution Pokemon ex in total: Mega Charizard X ex, Mega Gengar ex, Mega Diancie ex, Mega Heracross ex, Mega Lopunny ex, and Mega Sharpedo ex. It also debuts Dawn as a Supporter card and introduces key competitive Trainers including Firebreather, Battle Cage, and Grimsley's Move.

Top chase cards include Mega Charizard X ex Special Illustration Rare (artwork by Akira Egawa, featuring Charmander, Charmeleon and Mega Charizard X in a single frame), Mega Gengar ex Hyper Rare, Mega Lopunny ex SIR, and the Dawn Supporter SIR. The Charcadet promo card (MEP022) is an Illustration Rare exclusive to the Elite Trainer Box and is not available in standard booster packs.
