Quick answer: why does an Eevee Heroes Gym Box cost so much?
The Eevee Heroes Eevee’s Set (イーブイズセット), often known as the Eevee Heroes Gym Box, is expensive because it is a Japan-exclusive sealed bundle from one of the most important modern Pokémon sets. It contains two sealed Eevee Heroes booster boxes — 60 packs in total — plus an exclusive special-art Espeon VMAX promo, sleeves, a deck case and a large storage box.
It was released in Japan on 28 May 2021 at a retail price of around ¥11,330 including tax, and it has been out of print for years. Today’s price has nothing to do with that retail price. It is driven by global collector demand for sealed Eevee Heroes, the exclusive Espeon promo, and the fact that complete sealed copies keep getting harder to find.
Our Eevee Heroes Eevee’s Set Gym Box is recently listed around Dhs. 11,999. That is a lot of money, and the right way to judge it is as a sealed collector piece, not as a booster product you open for expected value.
What is Eevee Heroes?
Eevee Heroes, set code S6a, is a Japanese Sword & Shield-era expansion built around Eevee and the Eeveelutions. Each Japanese pack has 5 cards, and each booster box has 30 packs.
The set became famous for its alternate-art Eeveelution cards, above all the Umbreon VMAX alternate art that collectors know as “Moonbreon”, alongside Sylveon, Leafeon and Glaceon VMAX. Moonbreon became one of the defining chase cards of modern Pokémon, and demand for sealed Eevee Heroes followed it.
That matters because the Gym Box contains two sealed Eevee Heroes boxes. Before you even think about the promo or the accessories, the sealed boxes inside are valuable on their own.

The three things that drive the price
1. The two sealed Eevee Heroes boxes. Eevee Heroes is already expensive as a single sealed box. Every box that gets opened removes one more from the market, and five years after release, clean sealed supply is naturally thin.
2. The exclusive Espeon VMAX promo. The Espeon VMAX in this bundle is a different special-art card from the Espeon VMAX in other Eevee Heroes products, and it has not been reprinted. For sealed collectors, an intact bundle with that promo still inside is the whole point.
3. Japan-only distribution. This was never an international retail product. Every sealed copy in the UAE or the GCC had to be imported from Japan, usually long after release, so local availability is thin by default.
What does not drive the price is the expected value of opening it. Sixty Japanese packs will not normally return Dhs. 12,000 in single cards. If you want Moonbreon or another specific card, buying that card directly — ideally graded — is almost always the more sensible route.
Should you open it?
For almost everyone: no.
The value of this product is mostly in being complete and sealed. Once opened, you no longer have a sealed Eevee’s Set — you have two opened booster boxes, an Espeon promo and some accessories. The experience might be amazing, but financially you have removed the reason the product commands its premium.
Open it only if you are comfortable treating the full price as entertainment. If your goal is to own a specific Eevee Heroes chase card, buy that card instead.
Other high-end Japanese sealed pieces
The Eevee’s Set sits at the top of our shelf, but it is part of a wider category: Japan-exclusive sealed Pokémon products with unique promos or distribution stories.
- TAG TEAM GX Premium Trainer Box (Tag Bolt), recently around Dhs. 7,999. Released on 7 December 2018 at ¥5,000, it holds 20 Tag Bolt (SM9) packs, an alternate-art Tapu Lele-GX promo, a fixed 180-card haul, a deck box, sleeves and a coin. The appeal is the Sun & Moon era, sealed condition and Tag Team nostalgia.
- Pokémon Center Special BOX Triple Set — Tohoku, Hiroshima, Fukuoka, recently around Dhs. 1,599. A much more recent Japan-exclusive, sold by lottery on Pokémon Center Online in late 2025, with a regional mirror-foil Pikachu promo in each box. Not vintage, but a far more accessible way into Japan-only Pokémon Center pieces.
The common thread is not pack value. It is sealed condition, exclusive contents, Japanese distribution and collector demand.
What to check before spending this kind of money
These rules apply wherever you buy, including from us.
- Ask for photos of the actual unit. For a five-figure sealed box, stock images are not enough. Ask for every side, all corners and the shrink-wrap seams. For anything on our shelf, message us on WhatsApp and ask.
- Inspect the wrap and corners. Loose wrap, odd seams, dents or crushed corners all affect value. Some may be acceptable if they are priced in; none should be a surprise. Our guide to spotting fake Pokémon boxes covers resealing signs.
- Confirm the exact contents. A seller should know that this product contains two booster boxes, the Espeon promo, sleeves, a deck case and a storage box.
- Be suspicious of prices far below market. On high-end sealed Pokémon, a bargain is more often a warning sign than luck.
- Buy from a seller with a real track record. If something is wrong, you want a shop you can find, not an anonymous listing.
Owning it in the UAE: storage matters
A sealed box at this level should be stored like a collectible, not like normal stock. Keep it indoors, away from direct sunlight and windows, and away from any room that gets hot when the AC is off. UAE heat and humidity damage cardboard, shrink wrap and box corners over time; our heat protection guide goes into detail.
For single booster boxes, a UV-protected acrylic case such as our booster box protector (recently around Dhs. 74) helps with dust, light and handling. For a larger bundle like the Eevee’s Set, check dimensions before assuming a standard protector fits. The goal is simple: stable temperature, low light, clean storage and no pressure on the corners.
Honest caveats on value
Japanese sealed Pokémon has had a strong modern collector story, and Eevee Heroes is one of the clearest examples. That still does not make it risk-free.
- High-end collector demand can cool, and prices can fall as well as rise.
- The UAE resale market for a Dhs. 12,000 sealed box is small.
- If you need to sell internationally, shipping, insurance and buyer trust become part of the problem.
- Condition is a major part of the price. Damage after purchase reduces value.
Buy something like this because you want to own it. Treat any future upside as a bonus, not the reason to stretch your budget. Our broader view is in do sealed booster boxes hold value?, and if you are newer to Japanese product, start with our English, Japanese or Chinese booster box guide.
Inside the UAE, delivery is typically 1–2 working days after dispatch. Regional shipping to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and Jordan is typically 5–9 working days, with destination VAT and customs payable by the recipient; see our shipping, VAT and customs guide.
