MTG Bloomburrow Commander Deck | Animated Army

Magic: The Gathering — Bloomburrow Commander Deck: Animated Army (set code: BLC) is one of four preconstructed Commander decks from the Bloomburrow set, released worldwide on August 2, 2024. Bloomburrow takes Magic to a brand-new plane populated entirely by animal-folk — no humans live in the Valley, and anyone who travels there is transformed into an animal — making this one of the most distinctive and charming MTG sets in years. Animated Army channels the Gruul (Red-Green) clash of forest creatures and beast riders. This is a 100-card, ready-to-play deck for the Commander format — Magic's most popular way to play, a multiplayer free-for-all for three to five players.

For Magic collectors, Animated Army ships with a Borderless Traditional Foil face commander, Bello, Bard of the Brambles, alongside a second foil legendary commander, an alt-art foil Planeswalker reprint, and a Traditional Foil Imagine: Courageous Critters card — the highly-popular cycle that reimagines classic Magic creatures and Planeswalkers as adorable Bloomburrow-style animals in anime art treatment. Several reprints inside the deck come with brand-new Bloomburrow-themed art, making the entire 100-card deck thematically cohesive for collectors.

For Magic players, Animated Army is a Red-Green deck built around a fresh take on the Gruul "Stomp" archetype — animating your Artifacts and Enchantments into creatures and swinging them at opponents for damage and card advantage. Bello, Bard of the Brambles lets you cast noncreature permanents as creatures and rewards you with card draw when they attack, transforming a typical control-leaning piece pool into an aggressive board state. With only around 23 traditional creature cards in the deck, Animated Army leans heavily on its enchantment and artifact base, giving it a uniquely flexible Gruul gameplay angle. It plays as a complete deck out of the box and is a strong on-ramp into Commander for new and returning players.

Deck contents: one 100-card Red-Green Commander deck (97 nonfoil cards and 3 Traditional Foil cards), 2 foil Legendary Creature cards playable as your commander, a 2-card Collector Booster Sample Pack (1 alt-border card of Rare or Mythic Rare rarity and 1 Traditional Foil Uncommon), 10 double-sided tokens, a deck box, a strategy insert, and a reference card. Language: English. Publisher: Wizards of the Coast. Condition: Factory sealed.

Ideal for Magic players who enjoy Gruul artifact and enchantment strategies, Commander players who want a non-traditional deck-building angle, collectors hunting Borderless foil legendaries of Bello, Bard of the Brambles and the Imagine: Courageous Critters reprint, and anyone wanting a complete ready-to-play Commander deck with no deckbuilding required. Recommended for ages 13 and up.

Does Standard rotation affect this deck? No. Commander does not rotate, so this deck stays fully playable even though Bloomburrow leaves Standard when Nauctis: The Sunken Realm releases on 5 February 2027. Read our MTG Standard rotation 2027 and god packs guide for what changes and what to buy now.
