Magic: The Gathering | The Hobbit (set code: HOB) Play Booster Box is a 30-pack sealed box from Wizards of the Coast's Universes Beyond return to Middle-earth, released worldwide on August 14, 2026. The set adapts Tolkien's The Hobbit, following Bilbo Baggins, Thorin's Company, and the road to the Lonely Mountain.

The headline chase — the gleaming gold Smaug the Magnificent, with only about 500 copies worldwide — is a Collector Booster exclusive, but Play Boosters still carry a genuine shot at premium pulls: every pack includes a wildcard slot (any rarity, including the set's Booster Fun treatments) alongside a guaranteed rare or mythic and a traditional foil card, plus 40 Middle-earth classic artist cards revisiting The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth artwork that can surface across the set.

For players, Play Boosters are the set's standard limited and constructed product — the best way to draft, build a Sealed pool, or simply crack packs for playable cards. The set is legal across all formats, with an Eternal-legal HOC card pool represented in the Booster Fun slots.
